Key Responsibilities

• DB2 Administration

  • Administer, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain IBM DB2 LUW across Linux, UNIX, and Windows.

  • Manage provisioning, maintenance, backup/recovery, storage, logging, users, and database configurations.

• AWS Cloud & Migration

  • Deploy and manage DB2 on AWS EC2 and Amazon RDS for DB2, including on-premises to AWS migrations and production cutovers.

  • Manage key AWS services and optimize performance, availability, and cost.

• Performance & HA/DR

  • Monitor and optimize DB2 using db2top, db2pd, db2exfmt, CloudWatch, and RDS Performance Insights; troubleshoot database and SQL performance issues.

  • Implement HADR, HA/DR, backup/recovery, failover, and DR testing.

• Security & Automation

  • Manage database and AWS security, access controls, encryption, and SSL/TLS.

  • Automate DBA activities using Shell/Bash, Python, AWS CLI, and support IaC using Terraform/CloudFormation.

• Mentoring & Knowledge Transfer

  • Mentor existing DBAs transitioning to DB2/AWS and provide hands-on knowledge transfer.

  • Develop SOPs, troubleshooting guides, and best practices to support 7x24 operations.

• Production Support

  • Provide technical support for critical enterprise DB2 environments and collaborate with application, DevOps, infrastructure, and security teams.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• 8–12 years of IBM DB2 LUW DBA experience across Linux, UNIX, and/or Windows, with expertise in performance tuning, HADR, backup/recovery, HA/DR, SQL, and troubleshooting.

• 2–3+ years of AWS Cloud experience, including Amazon RDS for DB2, AWS EC2, and production cloud migration/cutover experience.

• Experience with DB2 migrations to AWS, including AWS DMS, IBM InfoSphere CDC, or native DB2 backup/restore.

• Hands-on experience with AWS EC2, RDS, S3, EBS, IAM, CloudWatch, VPC, and KMS.

• Strong Shell/Bash and/or Python scripting skills, with knowledge of database security, encryption, access management, and SSL/TLS.

• Experience with Kubernetes/Amazon EKS, DevOps, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) is a plus.

• Strong production support, communication, mentoring, documentation, and knowledge-transfer skills, with the ability to collaborate across global engineering and DevOps teams.
